Australian batter Travis Head achieved a significant milestone during the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Head, who smashed a remarkable century, has now surpassed 1,000 Test runs against India, becoming only the ninth Australian batter in history to achieve this feat.

Most Test Runs by Australian Players vs India:

  • Ricky Ponting - 2,555 runs
  • Steve Smith - 2,162 runs
  • Michael Clarke - 2,049 runs
  • Matthew Hayden - 1,888 runs
  • Allan Border - 1,567 runs
  • David Warner - 1,218 runs
  • David Boon - 1,204 runs
  • Robert Simpson - 1,125 runs
  • Travis Head - 1,107 runs

Head’s blistering 152-run knock on Sunday came as part of a remarkable 241-run partnership with Steve Smith for the fourth wicket, rescuing Australia from a precarious position of 75/3.

Adding to his achievement, Head became the first player to register both a King Pair (dismissed for golden ducks in both innings) and a century at the same venue within the same calendar year.

Earlier this year, he endured a forgettable outing at the Gabba, falling for golden ducks in both innings of a Test match. However, his latest performance proved to be a redemption story.

The left-handed batter celebrated his ninth Test century—his third against India—with his trademark enthusiasm.

His innings left a significant mark, helping Australia post a commanding score of 405/7 by stumps on Day two.

The first day of the Test match was marred by rain, with only 13.2 overs bowled. Australia managed to score 28/0 before play was called off.
